Alarm Monitoring

What is a monitored alarm?

Having a monitored alarm is the ONLY way to ensure that all alarm activations get an immediate Rapid Response.

A Monitored Alarm communicates by phone with the Monitoring Station 24 hours a day which means that if someone tries to breakin, or there is a fire, or a medical emergency or an alarm fault, someone from Safegard will always respond immediately by ringing you and dispatching the appropriate service.

A non-monitored alarm systems will have sirens, flashing lights to alert neighbours of an activation - but they may not be home or be unaware of what is happening and ignore the emergency.

I have a monitored alarm and my alarm activates. What happens?

Our 24 hour operators will immediately receive digital information (via the phone line) about your alarm activation: 1. the Type of Emergency eg Burglary, Fire, Panic, Duress, Alarm Fault, Power Loss, 2. the Zone (area of the sensor) and 3. the Time of Activation.

The site is always called to check that the activation wasn't caused by user error - For example cooking triggering a smoke alarm.

Your List of contacts is then phoned that you have supplied in your Personal "Response Plan" to notify you or them of the activation.

A Rapid Response Guard or Emergency Service is dispatched.

Why do I need a monitored alarm?

Monitored alarms ensure that all emergencies are acted upon.

Burglary Activations:
Immediately after a would-be intruder/burglar smashes or forces open a door or window in your property, the heat and movement sensor (PIR) will trigger the alarm (when set) which will then result in the alarm activating and reporting to our monitoring station all that is happening.  We can instantly advise you or our guard services of the location of any activations to get an immediate response.

Smoke & Fire Alarm Activations:
Our new Photoelectric Smoke Detectors will protect you and your property while you are at home AND away.  If there is a fire while you are home,  the fire detectors will trigger the alarm, the 120dB sirens will sound to wake you up and our monitoring station will call you and if no response the Fire Service will be dispatched. Our new photoelectric smoke detectors will detect a smouldering fire sooner than a battery operated ionisation battery smoke sensor and are powered from the mains power in the alarm and from its back-up battery if the power goes off.

Power Loss:
If your home or commercial premises  relies on cold storage or any power-sensitive computer configurations, we can immediately advise you on the loss of AC power. Our alarm systems have a battery-backup system and if maintained to our standards, will power the alarm for a number of days.

Auto Status Monitoring:
If you want to know when users of your alarm are coming and going, we can automatically monitor the status of the alarm when the alarm is set or not and record this information in a report.  These reports can be emailed to you weekly or monthly.
